| Description | Zam's Quest is a third-party curriculum which encourages research, discussion and role playing to address current ecological and conservation issues. The students research, discuss and present data regarding a particular environmental or conservation issue. After a session(s) of discussion, research presentation, and viewing videos and the Zam's Quest website, the students then take on a stakeholder and role play to come up with possible solutions which meet the needs, through some measure of compromise. This study group will have homework on alternating weeks. Toward the end of the session we may plan to visit Biomes in Rhode Island to round out the last lesson. Each of the modules are very well planned and documented. There are workbooks for each student. The instructor attended a training. The web site is used throughout the class as a resource. The last module of the study group the children take on a local issue to research, and take action to address. For more information, see http://www.zamsquest.com. Materials fee will be between $25 and $35, depending upon how many sign up; if overpaid, there will be reimbursement. |
