Description This is a course about self-discovery - what fascinates us, what motivates us, what intrigues us. We will explore these questions through a series of seminars, interviews and photography sessions.

The students will identify individuals they would like to interview and subjects they would like to photograph. Then, in a supportive seminar format, we will work together to develop interview questions. The study group leader will work with the students to arrange interview time with subjects. We will also photograph subjects (people, places and things) and put all of our materials together into an audio visual presentation. The final product of the semester will (hopefully) be a podcast designed using Apple software.

Students do not need to have their own laptop computers but it will be very helpful if each student has his or her own digital camera. The study group leader has one camera that she can lend to a student on specific days if s/he doesn't have access to a digital camera. The instructor will provide each student with a notebook for the study group as well as photocopied templates for interviews.

Students will be required to read The Teenage Liberation Handbook by Grace Llewellyn over the summer in preparation for the first day of study group. The students do not need to own the book - a library copy is just fine.
