| Skill Requirements/Prerequisites | Seminar format requires active participation in reading and discussing plays. Ability to read high-school level material, listen respectfully to the ideas of others and sit through discussion for 45 - 60 minutes important. Participants will be asked for a written response to at least two of the plays. Film or recorded versions will be recommended for use at home when possible. At least one of the plays under consideration is being produced locally in during the semester. Content of plays may include mature themes, but will not be chosen for their shock value. Instructors are available to talk with parents about any of the plays ahead of time. |

Playwrights under consideration include Brecht (Caucasian Chalk Circle or The Good Person of Szechwan), Miller (likely Death of a Salesman), Thorton Wilder, August Wilson, Wendy Wasserstein, etc. Group will consider historic and cultural context of each play. |
