| Description | Warm Up America! (WUA!) allows people to make a difference, whether they complete one small section or an entire afghan. Volunteers donate their time to crochet and knit a 7" X 9" rectangle (or more). Sections are either joined by individuals or groups in a community and donated locally or sent to Foundation headquarters for joining and distribution. Michaels stores are an official drop of point for Warm-Up America squares and afghans. The beauty of so many different participants is that a WUA! afghan resembles a patchwork quilt of many colors and textures, just as the participants-and recipients-represent the varied faces of America. For this study group, we will gather to knit and crochet squares to sew together into a Voyagers donated afghan. If you are a beginner this is a good way to practice. It is also a great way to try out a new stitch. There will be lots of stitch patterns available. |
