| Description | In this study group, we will be examining American History from approximately 1820-1900, focusing especially on the rise of slavery and the factors that led to the Civil War, through Reconstruction and he rebuilding of the US after the war. We will be examining all sides of the issues and participants will need to be able to argue various points of view -including ones that they may not agree with. We will have a special emphasis on people during the time period, not just military leaders, but also the "regular" people and how they shaped the government. Participants will be expected to participate in classroom discussion, as well as do some sort of presentation and also do homework as assigned. |
