| Description | %META:TOPICINFO{author="MicheleEvard" date="1227552586" format="1.0" version="1.3"}% This study group will focus on five major world religions: Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, Buddhism and Islam. We will learn about prophets and founders, major stories and scriptures, and religious expectations and commandments. We will also discuss some basic theology -- examining how different religions view issues like death, sin, and God. Participants will be expected to select a religion to focus on and do a research project which they will present to the study group. There will be reading homework. Participants will need to know how to access intra-library loan and will be expected to gather books for their homework and research project. A suggested book list will be available. Participants are expected to do their homework so they are prepared to be an active participant in discussions. Where possible I will invite guests to discuss their religious perspectives. Format will be primarily lecture and discussion with some use of videos. Materials will be discussed respectfully with as little bias as possible. |
